Due to continued growth, we are expanding our technical support team and are currently seeking a skilled Level IT Support Engineer to join our Magherafelt-based team.
POSITION OVERVIEW
As an IT Support Engineer at Ionic IT, you will play a vital role in delivering responsive, knowledgeable, and empathetic technical support to our clients. You’ll work closely with both internal teams and client stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently, provide technical insight, and help businesses leverage IT as a true enabler of growth. This role involves a mix of remote and on-site support.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
As an IT Support Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical support across a wide range of systems and technologies, ensuring our clients receive prompt, professional, and effective service. Your duties will include:
- Providing support to clients across a range of technologies and platforms, both remotely and on-site.
- Troubleshooting and resolving hardware, software, and networking issues promptly and professionally.
- Deploying, configuring, and maintaining Windows servers, desktop systems, and networking equipment.
- Supporting the setup and management of VPNs, including client-based and site-to-site IPSec connections.
- Administering Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams.
- Performing routine system monitoring, maintenance, patching, and security checks.
- Assisting in the planning and delivery of infrastructure and cloud-related projects.
- Maintaining accurate documentation of client environments, issue resolutions, and change management.
- Providing guidance and support to team members as required.
- Liaising directly with clients to ensure expectations are met and exceeded.
TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES
To succeed in this role, you will need solid hands-on experience with a wide range of infrastructure, networking, and cloud technologies commonly found in SME and MSP environments:
- Microsoft Infrastructure: Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, IIS, RDS
- Networking: VLANs, routing basics, switching, firewall rules and policy’s
- VPN Technologies: Remote client VPNs and site-to-site IPSec VPNs
- Operating Systems: Windows Server (2016 – 2022) and Windows (10 – 11)
- Cloud: Microsoft 365 administration and troubleshooting
- Backup & Disaster Recovery: Experience in both physical and virtual environments
- Security: Experience with Endpoint security tools such as SentinelOne, CrowdStrike, and ESET, as well as Fortinet security products, is a strong advantage.
- MSP Tools: Experience with RMM/PSA tools such as NinjaOne, ConnectWise, Halo PSA, and Autotask is highly desirable
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for someone with a strong technical background, excellent communication skills, and a proactive mindset. The ideal candidate will meet the following criteria:
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar role within an MSP environment
- Proven track record in diagnosing and resolving complex IT issues
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Passion for learning, problem-solving, and client service
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites when needed
- Relevant vendor certifications (e.g. Microsoft, Fortinet, Dell) are highly desirable
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience
