Ionic IT has been shortlisted in three categories at the Mid Ulster Business Awards 2026, reflecting the company’s growth from a local Mid Ulster IT support provider into a trusted technology and cybersecurity partner for organisations across Northern Ireland, the UK, USA, and Australia.
Ionic IT has been shortlisted for:
-
Best SME Business
-
Employer of the Year
-
Business Leader of the Year
The triple shortlisting marks another significant milestone for the business following its recent Mid Ulster job growth plans announced with Invest NI. The nominations recognise Ionic’s continued business growth, investment in its people, and leadership within the region’s technology sector.
The Best SME Business category recognises organisations that demonstrate strong performance, innovation, customer service and economic impact. Ionic’s inclusion on the shortlist reflects its commitment to helping Mid Ulster businesses use technology securely, productively and strategically through managed IT, cybersecurity, Microsoft 365, and AI adoption services.
The Employer of the Year nomination acknowledges Ionic’s investment in job development within Mid Ulster, supported by plans to create another 25 jobs over the next nine months as demand for IT services grow. As an accredited Living Wage Employer, the company supports career progression and builds a workplace culture that empowers local employees to succeed.

Adding to the firm’s success, Managing Director Patrick Cassidy has been shortlisted for Business Leader of the Year, recognising the leadership that helped drive 116% growth between 2022 and 2024 that secured Ionic’s place on the UK Fast Growth Index 2025. This index helped transform the company from a local Mid Ulster IT provider into one of Northern Ireland’s fastest-growing technology businesses.
Commenting on the nominations, Patrick Cassidy, Managing Director of Ionic IT, said:
“We are incredibly proud to be shortlisted in three categories at the Mid Ulster Business Awards. As a company based in Magherafelt, this recognition is particularly meaningful.
Over the last 18 years, we’ve grown from a Mid Ulster IT provider into a team of 15 people supporting businesses across a wide range of sectors in Northern Ireland and beyond with their technology, cybersecurity and digital transformation goals.”
These nominations are a reflection of the hard work of our team, the trust our clients place in us, and our commitment to delivering premium technology solutions that make a real difference to businesses.
The team looks forward to celebrating with fellow finalists at the awards ceremony and would like to congratulate all businesses shortlisted across this year’s categories.”
The winners will be announced at the Mid Ulster Business Awards ceremony on 19th November 2026.
